On Saturday, AM 560 WIND’s Cisco Cotto moderated a special town hall meeting outside the Chicago offices of Sen. Dick Durbin where citizens voiced their opinions on the issue of health care reform. Durbin told reporters that he doesn’t see value in holding town hall meetings. Patrick Hughes was invited to answer citizen’s questions and addressed the group to explain his platform on healthcare.

IR Reader John Ackerman reports from Bloomington that a conservative U.S. Senate candidate forum was held Saturday by the McLean County Republicans.
A straw pull vote was taken from everyone in attendance and the results are: Pat Hughes 40%, Cisco Cotto 28%, Judge Don Lowery 19%, John Arrington 9%, Robert Zadek 4% and then Eric Wallace. No one in attendance voiced support for Representative Mark Kirk.

STOP-IT (Sensible Taxpayers Opposed to Increased Taxes)
A new statewide Illinois grassroots effort organized to oppose Govern Patrick Quinn’s proposals to increase corporate and individual tax rates by 50%. STOP-IT succeeded in its efforts and defeated the proposed tax increases.
